WIC

WIC

Hello Reader,

The other day while picking up WIC at Cub Foods I was standing in line with about three people in fount and behind me. I only need formula at the time so it was suppose to be just a quick in and out.

I felt kinda odd standing in line with nothing, I’m sure it looked odd too.  The line moved quickly. I walked up to the cashier said,” I just have wic, sensitive formula the orange can”.  She paged it over the intercom.  I then stepped aside and let everyone go in fount of me. Figured I would be polite and not make everyone wait.

Just before the last couple started bagging up their groceries a lady arrived with my formula.  I smiled and said hello as we started the transaction.  Anyone who has been through the wic program knows that the checkout process can take a while some times. The couple in front of me had finished bagging  and on their way out the woman turned to her companion and said,” I hate people who get our taxes to pay for their children’s food, I mean if you can’t afford kids don’t have them!”

I had never encountered this personally before.  I’d heardheard many people speak that way about EBT while I was working at a gas station a few years ago but never for wic.

I wasn’t even upset, I just pittied the woman for being uniformed, cold and rude.  Before having my son, a comment like that one would of sent me over the edge. Now I just keep my mouth shut and remind myself that people like that are only unhappy with something in their own lives.

That’s about all I have time for today but I hope you all will be back tomorrow and I’d love you hear from you. Questions, comments or ideas.

Thank you for reading, now go get your mom on!

Sincerely,

Blog of the Mom
