My father has been in the hospital for the past few months. I’ve been speaking to him every few days just check up on him and make sure he is doing alright.
He is recovering well now, after a few surgeries. The pins that were placed in his leg after the initial injury have been removed and replace with metal plates. When talking to him about this we both had a good laugh at the fact that he would now set off alarms at the airport and magnetics will now stick to his leg.
Humor has always been my family’s main coping skill for intense emotional situation. But it is a really nice to hear my father laugh.
I’ve been posting to my father’s gaming group for him so his friends are updated on his recovery. My father is not only a gamer but he paints miniature figurines. Last week he said a friend stopped by to visit because they’d seen one of my posts. Hearing him say that made me feel like I was actually making a difference from a thousand miles away.
I was really bummed out that my dad was in the hospital for Father’s day but I called him and we talked for almost an hour. The conversation was filled with a ton of reminiscing of all the great times we’ve spent together. Being a huge daddy’s girl all my memories with my father are extremely special to me and I’m sure they are for him too!
I miss my daddy…. I wish I could be there to help him out but he keeps insisting that even if I was there, there is nothing I could do and that the nurses are taking great care of him. As happy as I am to know that, it still just isn’t enough for this daddy’s girl.
That’s about all I have time for today but I hope you all will be back tomorrow and I’d love you hear from you. Questions, comments or ideas.
Thank you for reading, now go get your mom on!
